See this is what I mean! My mind is a fog regarding past discussions in this fine place... Wait... wait just a minute.... from the dark recesses of my mind comes forth an image....

I created a Barrow-Downs group on Live Journal here. There are links to the BD groups on Xanga and Facebook there too, and if someone will give me a URL for the Myspace group, I'll put a link to that too. I'm Orominuialwen on LJ.

I don't think there is a Barrow Downs group for MySpace. If there is, I haven't been invited.
But that's okay, MySpace groups never work anyway.

Valesse said something about it in post # 57, but she didn't give a link. I tried searching for it, but I'm unfamiliar with Myspace, so I had no luck finding it.

Well! I actually went back and looked at it (seeing as I made that when I was a wee little newblet on myspace) and apparently that is only a myspace blog-ring and not a group. However, being the sneaky little spook that I am, I just went and made a proper group all awesome-Orominuialwen like. ; )

I was bored, so I decided to join the LiveJournal clan yesterday.
So currently I have two blogs: LiveJournal and Xanga. Also, if anyone wants to look me up on Facebook, I'm in the BD group along with the seven other Downers (I think we might be the smallest group on Facebook ). Still no MySpace site, and I still don't plan to set one up anytime soon....

Sure thing, Mithadan.
----- And just a friendly warning because I'm nice and paranoid and pessimistic like that: I like everybody. We're all nice people. We're all happy, wonderful, community-oriented, kind, honest people who can trust one another. Peace, love, happiness, hugs. Reality check: Much though we may like and trust each other, please keep close in mind just how much information you are willing to give out, especially on an open forum. Blogs are nice. My own LJ is a delicious mix of fact and fiction and I doubt anybody can actually tell for certain where to draw the line between my stories and my life because I compose carefully to keep it that way. My Xanga is pretty much where I put sonnets I secretly write when I'm supposed to be doing British Lit homework. Myspace tells even more than an average blog, if you let it. Be most careful with the comments you let get posted; it's harder to control what your friends write about you. Facebook: not only are you releasing your favorite television shows, your favorite quotes, but you are also frequently releasing your first and last name, your school, your hometown, your course of study, your classes, your living arrangements... You name it, it's not hard to find. I like Facebook. I lurk there when I'm bored, playing with my status, stalking my friends', and enjoying the mad photographer game. I'm currently, as it were, "not enthused about class today" and moping on a beach. The poke function is frighteningly entertaining. Groups are an easy way to keep in touch with specific people. Just PLEASE be careful with giving out your personal information because some people are REALLY WEIRD. Please return to your regularly scheduled All Barrowdowners are Awesome programming.

What she wants to say is that she wants to prevent you from being visited by a maniac with a knife in his hand.
I guess she's right. You never really know who reads the stuff you post.

But really, I see where you're coming from. It can be dangerous, and in the last few years problems concerning online predators has only gotten worse. It's good to be careful, and by living in the city, I'm usually really careful anyways. The only place I leave full blown information (last name, address, etc) is on Facebook. Most of that information can only be seen by friends and all of mine are in high school or college networks. Though, ever since Facebook has been opened to the public, I have been a little worried, but nevertheless I still enjoy the site, just with a little more caution.

Ugh!! Okay, I've given into the MySpace craze. So, if some of you get an invite with a kid in a red shirt looking sad (or emo as we call it over here) that would be little ol' me.

Like Brinn, I only post 'full-blown' details on Facebook - but even then, with the exception of my surname and school, they're only visible to my friends. Simple way of keeping that safe: only add people you know. (Or...semi-know - Brinniel...)
It's the same on any forum - but then, if you send a message from a personal email to account to any barrowdowner, chances are they could then have your surname. You do have to be really careful, especially if you're under 18 - Balin's "knife in hand" example, whilst a comical image ("Ah ha! You would be the axe-murderer I ordered? Well, splendid, splendid, do come in and have a cup of tea, then we can get started...") is a good point. Oh, and not to sound patronising now I've finally crossed the invisible line into 'adulthood' *sheepish grin*

I've had a stalker before, but he didn't find me on the Internet. He found me in the coffee shop he frequented, when I got a summer job there. Lots of "fun" stories there, if anyone is ever interested.
Anyways, this is just to say that I've joined the MySpace BD group.

Okay, prepare yourselves....Brinniel has created a myspace account. *gasp*
Yeah, I said I wouldn't do it, but I was starting to get irritated how I couldn't view my friends' accounts without being a member. Livejournal will remain my main site for blogging and I'll just use myspace for other stuff...I guess. Anyways, if you're interested, check it. I have a privacy setting, but if you friend me, I'll friend you back. Btw, I want to comment on how awesome the BD Facebook Group is becoming. Fifteen members, and now we have lots of photos. And now you don't even have to be a student to register on the site. Pretty sweet... EDIT: Post 1111...haha

A Question
What's the best blog-space for story serialization? and why? I don't like Xanga for it because everything is upside down with the latest post ABOVE the previous ones, unlike here. So is there a blog-host that does it better AND is user friendly and not weird somehow?

I'd use LJ Lmp. You can change the date chronology.
